Born in East Oakland, California, Miles spent much of his early years across the bridge in Bayview-Hunters Point and Fillmore neighborhoods of San Francisco, where he lived with his paternal grandparents. As a child, he relocated with his mother to Asheville, North Carolina. Later, Miles moved to East Atlanta and South DeKalb County, Georgia, supported by a family friend. Now at 46, he proudly calls this vibrant area home. Alongside his strong ties to the Atlanta community, Miles nurtures a deep passion for Greek mythology, which fuels his creative storytelling and commitment to projects like “A Theban Tale.”
A quintessential Scorpio, Miles has a deep passion for the outdoors and a great love for animals. In his free time, he loves to travel and explore new destinations, constantly seeking out new experiences and opportunities for growth. You will often find him in Santa Cruz enjoying beach, hiking through the mountains of the Blue Ridge, or just simply enjoying the tranquility of downtown Atlanta’s Centennial Olympic Park.
A dog lover since he was a kid, Miles has previously owned two Doberman Pinschers while growing up over the years. He is currently planning to have another set of Dobermans and name them, “Apollo” and “Artemis.”
Miles is currently working toward an associate degree in Marketing Management at Georgia Piedmont Technical College. He plans to continue his education at Georgia State University, where he will complete a double major in English and African American Studies. Ultimately, he hopes to return to San Francisco to pursue a Ph.D. in African American Studies at UC Berkeley, where he was inspired to follow this path during his time of employment at the university before the COVID-19 pandemic forced him to return back to Atlanta.
Miles is a self-taught writer and filmmaker who began crafting screenplays during his teenage years. In 2003, while a college freshman, he independently produced his first documentary film, which received widespread attention and was honored at film festivals nationwide. Today, he is the founder of Art, Trade & Lifestyle, which includes A.T.L. News and Black History Media as subsidiaries dedicated to original, innovative storytelling and media production.
